Care Ministries

The HOCC Care Ministries reflect our second core value of Authentic Community. Providing support, assistance, and hope, these ministries meet people at their point of need and work to make life better physically, emotionally, and spiritually. As Jesus came to serve, so we seek to serve and care for the needs of others.

Caring and Sharing
The Caring and Sharing ministry offers emergency food, clothing, and other physical necessities for those in need as well as providing financial support to institutions that serve children, the elderly, and adults. This ministry serves both the Highland Oaks family and those within the community who live in zip codes 75238 and 75243.

Concern
The Concern Ministry exists to provide support to those in need regardless of circumstances. This ministry provides care in the form of hospital visits, prayers, phone calls, encouraging notes, funeral support as well as comfort and consolation.

Counseling
The Counseling Center of the Highland Oaks Church of Christ is committed to providing Christ-centered assistance based on helpful psychological principals and programs. Pit Crew For Christ
The Pit Crew For Christ ministry provides car maintenance assistance to single mothers and widows of the congregation. The Pit Crew ministry is volunteer run and donation based so that services and parts can be provided free of charge.Sign-ups are scheduled before and after Sunday morning services in the two weeks prior to each event. Space is limited and appointments are required.

Prayer
All Christians are called to be intercessors; this team of prayer warriors serves as the vanguard of this body before the throne room of God. In this role, participants meet monthly as well as during the worship services to pray for the needs of this congregation.

Special Needs
Many families have been drawn to Highland Oaks over the years because of the Special Needs Ministry, which is designed to welcome, accept, and love all people with disabilities. Bible classes have been developed to share the Gospel utilizing a developmentally appropriate curriculum. Over the years, this ministry has served as a wonderful witness to the surrounding community.

Thirty Niners
Serving the needs of the mature senior adults at Highland Oaks, the Thirty-Niners ministry encourages fellowship and relationship development through monthly activities, group dinners, and spiritual encouragement opportunities. Participants are usually age 55 and up, but there is no age restriction and all are welcome.

Wellspring Ministry
The Wellspring Ministry is a confidential, peer-based care-giving ministry. Volunteers blessed with the spiritual gifts of compassion and care giving are nurtured to use their gifts in ministry and grow in faith as they see God working through them to touch the lives of others. Hurting people, through the Wellspring Ministry, receive quality Christian care, deepen their relationship with their Lord, and feel supported rather than forgotten.
